Sundae Sermon dancingSince its start 5 years ago, Sundae Sermon’s has become an iconic celebration of summer and family in Harlem.  With outdoors DJ parties on Sunday afternoon in beautiful Harlem parks, it became an organic celebration of friends, food, family and fun.  This year Sundae Sermon movers from Morningside Park to a new location in St Nicholas Park at 135th Street.  The summer series kicks on Sunday June 9 from 3 to 7pm and features DJ Louie Vega and DJ Kevin Hedge. Come join the experience of #goodmusicforgoodpeople.

Morningsider has been happy to profile founder D.J. Stromin’ Norman in our Q&A series. DJ Stormin’ Norman originally hails from East London, UK and is now a resident of Harlem, USA. In the 90′s, he was part of a groundbreaking DJ collective who brought the Thunderstorm Mix on WBLS 107.5FM NYC, introducing live mixing to daytime radio previously reserved for weekend nights broadcasted from night-clubs, setting a new precedent in national radio. For over 20 years, he’s played major New York clubs, exclusive downtown spots, elite private events and world touring. Most importantly, he’s committed to his community. A Harlem resident for over 15 years, he’s passionate about constructively contributing to it’s current renaissance. “There are a lot of Harlemites who have to venture downtown or to other boroughs for this kind of experience, but would much rather support and celebrate our own neighborhood and network.”

As always we appreciate DJ Stormin’ Norman for his commitment to celebrating Harlem and celebrating life!
