As we know from walking the neighborhood, Harlem is blessed with an impressive architectural history! This history is celebrated each year during the annual house tour of historic buildings in the Mount Morris Park neighborhood, which is the area two blocks west of Mount Morris Park. This year’s tour on Sunday, June 13 will feature an innovation as the organizers highlight “What’s Now, What’s New and What’s Next” in Central Harlem. The tour will run from 11am to 4pm and include visits to 12 venues ranging from brownstone homes to new condominiums, boutique art galleries, landmark churches, the Malcolm Shabazz Mosque and the landmark jazz club Minton’s Playhouse. The annual event is organized by the Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association, a neighborhood nonprofit run by volunteers dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the Mount Morris Park Historic District and beyond. The tour begins in front of the Pelham Fritz Community Center at Mount Morris Park West (Fifth Avenue) and 122nd. For more information, visit firstname.lastname@example.org or call 212-369-4241.
