citymdCityMD believes that seeing a doctor when you’re sick should be easy.

If you’ve had a non-life-threatening illness or injury, and have ever visited one of their locations, then you already know that you’ll never wait more than fifteen minutes to see a doctor at CityMD. They pride themselves in getting patients in and out quickly, and have developed a “concierge-level” formula that allows physicians to administer thorough and focused care, and staff to be efficient and friendly. The hospital emergency room certainly has its place, but you won’t find this brand of fast and attentive urgent care anywhere but CityMD. This is the formula that has branded this retail medical outfit and led to its rapid expansion, since 2010.

“Our effort is to be an episodic care, first floor access solution to healthcare. We’ll see patients from ankle sprains to sore throats, to headaches, but the point is they want immediate access and if they need a higher level of care, we’re there to direct them,” CityMD founder and COO Ned Shami, M.D., told NY1 in a 2014 interview that aired when the franchise first began to sprawl across New York City. There are currently sixteen Manhattan locations, including one of their newest proud arrivals on 125th Street. CityMD boasts nearly fifty locations throughout the five boroughs,  Long Island, Rockland, Westchester and New Jersey.

CityMD accepts most insurance plans and treats adults and children suffering from minor illnesses and injuries, including cuts, breaks, sprains and dislocations, burns, allergies, rashes, ear infections, fever, cold and flu, headaches, pink eye, urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and more. They additionally offer immunizations, school physical exams, and screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, STDs and HIV. If you can’t get that last minute private doctor’s appointment and don’t have time for the emergency room wait, CityMD is designed to be a convenient and stress-free alternative. (Word to the wise though: Its billing practices can be questionable; even with insurance, you’ll want to find out, up front, what your charges will be.)

While we should all continue to do our bests to stay away from the emergency room, if you do have to go, it’s a comfort to know that this chic little walk-in has finally made its way Uptown!
